The Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo), the non-profit working to bring Offshore Wind Power to Northeast Ohio, is currently hiring Outreach Representatives to help promote its very first project called Icebreaker -- 6 wind turbines in Lake Erie about 7 miles off the coast of Downtown Cleveland.
This initial project, scheduled for completion in 2017, is an important first step toward building an entire industry in Northeast Ohio around offshore wind power. It will not only create hundreds of jobs and power thousands of homes, it will also help catalyze an industry that draws strength from our region's long industrial history, our world class research institutions, our central location on the North Coast, and our urgent need for local clean energy. This industry will create a clean and sustainable local alternative to coal and natural gas; it will also fuel regional economic growth and create good jobs that can't be shipped overseas.
Public support is crucial to the success of this project, and Outreach Representatives will be in charge of building that support through a door-to-door outreach campaign and also at various public events throughout the summer. Outreach representatives work 35-40 hours per week and earn $10/hour.
Applicants should submit a resume and brief written answers to the following questions:
Why do you think Offshore Wind Power is a great opportunity for our region?
What have you done to demonstrate your passion for environmental sustainability?
Why do you think you would be a good Outreach Representative for offshore wind power?
Applicants are encouraged to apply soon as there are a limited number of positions available.
